By-elections being held in Batumi, Rustavi

Georgia holds by-elections in the cities of Batumi and Rustavi on April 2. A majoritarian MP will be elected in Rustavi and a city council member in Batumi.

Three candidates are registered for the parliamentary by-elections and two are running for the city council membership. 

The Georgian Central Election Commission (CEC) set up a total of 135 polling stations to conduct the by-elections. CEC noted the polling stations opened at 7 AM in Rustavi and Gardabani and at 06:45 AM in Batumi.

“Relevant electoral procedures have been implemented before 8 AM and the polling stations launched to receive voters. The Central Election Commission reminds you, that Georgian Voter shall have the ID card or passport of the citizen of Georgia while visiting the election precinct,” they added.

The vote counting process will start at 8 PM after the polling stations are closed. The summary protocols will be gradually uploaded on the CEC website: results.cec.gov.ge.
