The Embassy of Ukraine in Georgia has thanked the citizens of Georgia, representatives of business circles, the Government of Georgia and the Georgian Orthodox Church for their support of Ukraine ‘in such a difficult time’, Andrei Kasyanov, Chargé d’Affaires of Ukraine has stated at a briefing earlier today.
“I want to address all the citizens of Georgia. Georgians, you are awesome, I admire the level of support you have expressed for Ukraine, there is boundless humanitarian aid, rallies in support of Ukraine, proposals for accommodation of Ukrainian citizens, all Ukrainians. We feel that you are always by our side and ready to fight with Ukraine for your independence, democracy and your free choice,” said Kasyanov.
He stated that the humanitarian aid sent by Georgia is very “timely and important” for Ukraine.
“We are very grateful to Poland, friends, for such solidarity and support and we will never forget it. Georgia also stands by us/ On Sunday, March 6, a plane was sent to Ukraine with humanitarian aid, 40 tons of medical equipment, medicines, food, clothing, hygiene items and everything that the people of Ukraine are in dire need of now. This is a very timely and important help,” he stated.
He has also commented on Russia’s lifting embargo on certain Georgian products.
“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine has responded to the issue. We continue to consult with our Georgian partners and are grateful for the explanations given by the Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia, Mr. Levan Davitashvili. We call on everyone to refrain from any speculation and emphasize the inadmissibility of doing business with Russian companies which gives Russia additional resources to continue the bloody war against Ukraine,” he said.
Russia has lifted an embargo on Georgian dairy products and wine. Ukraine says it would be unacceptable if Georgia decides to export the products to Russia.
