China Southern Airlines will launch daily flights from Tbilisi International Airport to Urumqi with Boeing aircraft from September 27, TAV Georgia confirmed on Friday, following the Georgian Government’s decision earlier this month to lift visa requirements for Chinese citizens to “encourage” domestic tourism.

The airline currently flies three times a week on the route Tbilisi-Urumqi-Tbilisi.The airline  returned to Georgia in January 2023 after a three-year pause caused by a coronavirus pandemic.

The Georgian Government claims they aim to encourage at least 10 flights a day.
