Covid daily cases surging in Georgia, hitting 26,320

Georgia has reported a record high 26,320 daily cases of 84,658 tests in the past 24 hours. 

181,293 individuals remain infected with coronavirus in the country as of today.

The majority of the new infections are the Omicron strain of coronavirus. 

The total number of confirmed cases since the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic in the country is 1,226,444.

As of February 1, the daily positivity rate is 31.09%, for the last 14 days – 23.40% and for 7 days – 26.38%.

9,555 people recovered from the virus in the past 24 hours, while the total number of people recovered increased to 1,030,065.

44 new cases of coronavirus deaths have been reported.

A total of 15,060 people have died from the virus since April 2020.

The new cases for Tbilisi and regions are as follows:

Tbilisi -12 804 cases.

Adjara – 2 190.

Imereti – 3 689. 

Kvemo Kartli – 1 581.

Shida Kartli – 1 466.

Guria – 439.

Samegrelo – Zemo Svaneti – 1 623.

Kakheti – 1 298.

Mtskheta-Mtianeti – 617.

Samtskhe-Javakheti – 511.

Racha-Lechkhumi and Kvemo Svaneti – 102.

5,522 people are undergoing treatment  in hospitals, while others remain at home as they have a mild form of the virus.
