Chair of the Parliamentary Procedural Issues and Rules Committee, Davit Matikashvili, on Saturday criticised the United Kingdom’s recent sanctions on Levan Vasadze and Otar Partskhaladze, describing them as “absolutely incomprehensible, unexplained, and legally unfounded”.

Matikashvili said the sanctions reflected a subjective influence of “global negative forces,” whose center he claims has recently shifted to Europe.

“This is not the first time the British Government has taken such measures. It is part of a regrettable policy toward Georgia, particularly in the context of our country’s role during the war in Ukraine,” Matikashvili added.
