Davit Rijvadze, former head of the Adjara Police Detective Department and father of ex-Adjara government head Tornike Rijvadze, stated he resigned from his post voluntarily and was not detained, contrary to circulating rumors.

Speaking to Primetime, Rijvadze emphasized: “It is unfortunate that some media outlets spread unchecked, false information. I have not been arrested, I am at home with my family, and no one has summoned me. I resigned based on my personal decision.”

Rijvadze said he now intends to focus more on his personal life and family after serving 32 years in the Ministry of Internal Affairs. “I proudly served this region and Georgia with dignity alongside my honorable colleagues,” he added.

He also commented on his son Tornike Rijvadze’s recent exit from the ruling Georgian Dream party’s political council, saying it was linked to his earlier resignation from office. “We both made personal decisions. I wish the renewed political council success. My family and I remain loyal supporters,” he concluded.
