Georgia’s Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Davit Songulashvili, on Tuesday said several cooperation memorandums will be signed with Chinese counterparts as part of the Georgian delegation’s official visit to China.
Speaking to Georgian journalists in Shanghai, Songulashvili said the agreements will strengthen collaboration across priority areas, including agriculture, waste management, air quality, biodiversity and eco-tourism.
“These memorandums will allow the exchange of experience, the identification of priority directions, and the creation of new opportunities between the two countries,” he noted, emphasising the importance of expanding environmental cooperation.
A key agreement will focus on increasing agricultural exports, particularly enabling Georgia to open the Chinese market for poultry products. Songulashvili described this as a “highly significant” milestone, reflecting China’s recognition of the safety and quality standards overseen by Georgia’s National Food Agency.
He added that strengthened cooperation would support the development of Georgia’s agricultural sector, increase production of agri-food products and contribute to broader economic growth.
