Aslan Bzhania, the de facto President of Georgia’s Russian-occupied Abkhazia region, has faced health problems during his “visit” in Moscow and was transferred to a clinic, local media reported on Thursday.

“Currently, he is undergoing necessary medical checks. According to preliminary information, the President has an exacerbation of urolithiasis, his life is not in danger,”  de facto authorities said.

Bzhania was unable to run for the post of the de facto President in 2019 due to his health, with his supporters pointing to alleged poisoning.

He underwent a kidney surgery in one of the Russian clinics last year.
