The de facto prosecutor’s office of Sukhumi in Georgia’s Russian-occupied Abkhazia region, claims Ruslan Gamison, an individual earlier convicted in the region on the charges of premeditated murder and the rape of two Russian citizens, had been taking refuge on the Tbilisi-controlled territory since the summer of the last year.

The de facto office said on January 18, 2023, a criminal case was opened against Gamisonia on two more counts – “illegal crossing of the state border and public calls in the media against the territorial integrity and inviolability of Abkhazia”.

The de facto authorities said Gamisonia was using the social platform Tik Tok to campaign the joining of Abkhazia with Georgia.
