A Delta Air Lines flight crash-landed at Toronto Pearson International Airport on Monday, injuring at least eight people, including one critically.

The incident involved Delta Flight 4819, operated by Endeavor Air, which had departed from Minneapolis with 80 passengers on board. The aircraft, a Bombardier CRJ-900, encountered windy and freezing conditions as it attempted to land at Pearson.

According to Peel Region paramedics, one passenger is in critical but non-life-threatening condition, while seven others sustained non-critical injuries. Additionally, Ontario’s Ornge medical transport service confirmed that it had transported three critically injured individuals, including a pediatric patient and a man in his 60s, to hospitals in Toronto.

Emergency response teams rushed to the scene, where television footage showed the aircraft flipped upside down on the runway with smoke billowing from its underside. Rescue crews worked to evacuate all 80 people on board and prevent a fire.

Following the crash, Pearson Airport temporarily suspended arrivals and departures, causing multiple delays. In a statement, the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) confirmed that all passengers were safely evacuated and that Canada’s Transportation Safety Board will lead the investigation.

Authorities have not yet determined the cause of the crash, but police stated that “most passengers are out and unharmed.”
