Gia Volski, the First Deputy Speaker of the Georgian Parliament from the ruling Georgian Dream party, stated that at this stage, there are no circumstances that would justify Georgia’s involvement in the 3+3 format. However, he did not rule out the possibility in the future.

“The ongoing global processes will determine Georgia’s future position,” Volski told journalists in Parliament on February 20, referring to the prospect of Georgia joining the regional cooperation platform.

According to him, for Georgia and its government, the country’s political image, foreign policy course, and economic interests must remain intact.

“Looking ahead, something may change, but at this stage, there is nothing that would justify our participation in this format, whether politically or economically. So, we should wait and observe the developments,” Volski stated.

A day earlier, on February 19, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov reiterated that the 3+3 format remains open for Georgia.

“From the very beginning, everyone agreed on the 3+3 format. We understand Georgia’s concerns and position, but there will always be a place for Georgian representatives in these meetings,” Lavrov said.

Lavrov made similar remarks in January 2025 and October 2024, reiterating Russia’s stance on Georgia’s potential participation.
