Georgian Economy Minister Levan Davitashvili has confirmed that about 20,000-25,000 Russian citizens have crossed into Georgia in recent days amid ongoing hostilities in Ukraine.

Davitashvili has not shared the concern of many on social media that the individuals are a threat for Georgia and that Georgia must not allow Russian citizens into the country as ‘they must stay in their homeland and change the bloody regime of Vladimir Putin.’

Davitashvili claimed that ‘if the individuals are trying to escape the regime, they should be allowed to live and act in accordance with the law in Georgia.’

Hundreds of Georgians are demanding the cancellation of visa free regime with Russia not to allow Russian citizens in the country.

The individuals believe that the majority of the Russian citizens choose Georgia to live as they run away from sanctions and discomfort in Russia and not  Putin’s rule.
