Daily passenger train services between Tbilisi and Baku will resume on 26 May after a six-year suspension, according to a statement released by the Georgian government.

The announcement came during the Georgian delegation’s visit to Azerbaijan, where the two sides also signed a protocol of the bilateral coordination council concerning the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway.

Under the agreement, the new section of the railway line will enter full operation.

The document was signed by Georgian Economy Minister Mariam Kvrivishvili and Azerbaijani Minister of Digital Development and Transport Rashad Nabiyev.

According to the government, the restoration of passenger rail links between Tbilisi and Baku marks the resumption of regular daily services halted six years ago.
