Elene Khoshtaria, leader of the Coalition for Change, praised the European Court of Human Rights’ ruling in the June 20 case in a letter sent from prison, calling it a triumph of truth and justice.

“I remember the cynical faces of every Georgian Dream supporter, every propagandist, the glorification of ex-PM [Giorgi] Gakharia, the absurdity, the ‘cover-ups,’ the arrests, the insults to blinded people. Yesterday, I witnessed truth triumph at the Strasbourg Court,” Khoshtaria wrote.

She emphasized the role of the victims’ resilience and legal teams in achieving the verdict. “This decision in the June 20 case is largely due to the unbreakable spirit of the victims. Of course, immense thanks go to the Georgian Young Lawyers’ Association and all the lawyers who worked on this case,” Khoshtaria said.

Beyond the June 20 events, Khoshtaria described the ruling as a powerful tool in current political struggles, noting that the system has been exposed and the political party involved held accountable at the highest legal level. “This is a strong international political instrument, which we will certainly use, including in the chemical weapons case. To the end! - Rustavi Women’s Prison,” she added.
