EU Ambassador to Georgia Carl Hartzell says that Ukraine and its people deserve large-scale verbal and practical support in face of Russia’s aggressive actions.

Hartzell has welcomed the move of the Georgian parliament to adopt a resolution in support of Ukraine, stating that expressing support and solidarity by Georgia is important.

He stated that it matters that the resolution has the opposition’s support.

The Parliament’s Foreign Affairs Committee has supported a draft resolution on Ukraine pushed forward by the ruling Georgian Dream party.

The draft resolution is disliked by the opposition as it lacks a section which would have described Russia as an aggressor.

The ruling party says that the document is not provocative, while the opposition believes that the Georgian Dream government refrains from irritating Russia.

The adoption of the draft resolution needs the support of at least 76 MPs.
