EU approves additional €500 mln for Ukraine

The European Union (EU) has approved an additional € 500 million for military equipment of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, the European Council has said.

According to them, the money will be spent on the purchase of personal protective equipment, military equipment, fuel and first aid kits.

“The coming weeks will be crucial. Russia is preparing for an attack on eastern Ukraine. It is important that we continue to strengthen Ukraine’s military support to protect its territory and population,” said EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Joseph Borrell.

With an additional € 500 million, the total amount of EU financial assistance to the Ukrainian Armed Forces will reach € 1.5 billion.
