The European Union has increased the financial assistance package by € 35 million to support the vaccination process in partner countries.
Information about this is published on the website of the European Commission. Under the package, the EU seeks to increase access to vaccines in the Eastern Partnership region amid a global deficit and to speed up the vaccination process in six Eastern Partnership countries – Georgia, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Moldova and Ukraine.
This amount will be added to a package of 40 million euros allocated in February, which was to be used to improve the preparedness of the population for safe and effective vaccination.
“The EU is committed to supporting our eastern neighbours to speed up vaccination, as it will be crucial to ending the pandemic and launching socio-economic recovery in the region. We care about our partners” – said Oliver Varhey, the European Commissioner for Neighbourhood Policy and Enlargement.
