Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal announced on Thursday that the European Union has signed a new package of agreements providing €2.3 billion in credit guarantees and grants for Ukraine. The support is expected to mobilize up to €10 billion in investments for Ukraine’s recovery.
"We are grateful to all EU partners for their unwavering support," Shmyhal stated, highlighting the importance of the aid for rebuilding the country amid ongoing war-related destruction.
In a separate announcement, the EU also launched the Ukraine Reconstruction Fund, with an initial capital of €220 million. The initiative aims to stimulate private investment in key sectors such as energy, infrastructure, and industry.
Shmyhal extended thanks to the European Commission, the European Investment Bank (EIB), as well as the governments of France, Germany, Italy, and Poland for backing the effort.
He also reiterated Ukraine’s call for the confiscation of frozen Russian assets, stressing that doing so is essential for justice, sustainable development, and long-term security.
"Together, we are working toward a shared future for Ukraine and the EU," he concluded.
