European Union foreign ministers are unlikely to unanimously support a ban on visas for all Russians in their scheduled meeting later this week,  EU foreign policy chief Josep Borrell has said.

“I don’t think that cutting the relationship with the Russian civilian population will help and I don’t think that this idea will have the required unanimity,” Borrell suggested.

I think that we have to review the way that some Russians get a visa, certainly the oligarchs do not. We have to be more selective. But I am not in favor of stopping delivering visas to all Russians.”

Russia invaded Ukraine in February of this year.

Hostilities have been in progress since then, with Kyiv demanding “more weapons” and “tougher regulations” to hamper “Russia’s aggressive intentions not only towards Ukraine”.
