Georgia’s Former Prime Minister under Georgian Dream (GD) leadership Giorgi Gakharia, who is running for Tbilisi mayor in the October 2 municipal elections and currently chairs the opposition For Georgia party, has accused Imedi TV channel for being biased and demanded live on any of its shows.

Gakharia said in his recent Facebook post that in previous years the channel was under the influence of the United National Movement, while the party was in office, while currently the GD is exercising control on it.

He says that the channel is spreading biased information on For Georgia and Gakharia and refuses to broadcast any of their activities.

Gakharia left the PM’s post and the GD party at the end of February 2021 due to controversies with the GD leadership on the issue of opposition leader Nika Melia.

He has been accused of ‘betraying the party and the state’, by GD.
