Georgia’s Former President Mikheil Saakashvili has responded to recent ‘allegations’ of the ruling Georgian Dream party to ex-PM Giorgi Gakharia that he ‘may consume drugs,’ stating that such allegations are a ‘typical Russian narrative.’

Gakharia has refused to test for drugs in Tbilisi to ‘prevent a provocation staged against him,’ and vowed he will get tested in one of European clinics instead.

Incumbent Tbilisi  Mayor Kakha Kaladze was the first who tested for drugs and called on his opponents in the Tbilisi mayoral race, as well as other candidates in the October 2 municipal  elections, to also do this.

PM Irakli Garibashvili has also made hints that Gakharia may be afraid of the test, while he directly said that Saakashvili, who pledges to return to Georgia ahead of the elections, ‘consumes drugs.’
