Former US Ambassador to Georgia Ian Kelly says that he is disappointed by the current government of Georgia ‘which is going backwards.’

He has told Voice of America that the Georgian Dream government ‘prefers to be silent and not to actively support Ukraine.’

Kelly also said that he has never seen the Georgian government which had rejected an agreement with the EU or criticized the US ambassador.

He stated that Georgia’s reform agenda for the Euro-Atlantic integration has been delayed.

Kelly announced that he would retire once his mission in Georgia concluded at the end of March 2018, bringing an end to a 33-year career.
