Exactly one year ago, on March 11, 2020, the World Health Organization (WHO) announced the beginning of the COVID-19 infection pandemic caused by the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus.

“We have come to the conclusion that COVID-19 can be described as a pandemic,” the organization's CEO, Tedros Adhan Ghebreyesus, said that day.

Then he also noted that the world had never before faced a pandemic caused by a coronavirus and which can be controlled.

As of the morning of March 10, 2021, 117 million 556 thousand 299 cases of coronavirus infection were confirmed in the world. The number of deaths worldwide from diseases associated with COVID-19 amounted to 2 million 610 thousand 128. At the same time, more than 92 million people recovered.
