Former Lithuanian Foreign Minister Gabrielius Landsbergis met with representatives of Georgia’s opposition parties in Tbilisi on Tuesday, emphasizing his personal commitment to Georgia’s freedom and European path.

“I no longer hold an official position, but I wanted to demonstrate my personal dedication to Georgia’s European future. This is personally important to me,” Landsbergis stated.

He expressed his gratitude that opposition leaders agreed to meet with him despite his non-official status. “It was useful to hear their perspectives on what is happening in Georgia, their direction, and what they expect from the West,” he added.

Landsbergis, who has extensive experience in EU affairs, noted that his primary goal was to exchange views and information. “I have a good sense of what to expect from Brussels and the West. The key question is what practical steps Brussels might take and what outcomes are realistic,” he said.

He also pointed out ongoing political shifts in Europe, including Germany awaiting a new government. He highlighted the importance of understanding potential support from the Baltic states and other Western partners.
