Four individuals who have been arrested for supporting former president of Georgia Mikheil Saakashvili ‘illegally cross into Georgia from Ukraine’ at the end of September 2021, have been released on 5,000 GEL bail each as they admitted to the crime.

Giorgi Narimanidze, Elguja Tsomaia, Zurab and Shalva Tsotsoria stated that all the evidence provided by the prosecution were valid and that they really helped Saakashvili to enter the country after eight years in political exile.

The suspects were given one month to pay the bail.

Saakashvili was arrested in Tbilisi on October 1, 2021.

He said he returned to help the opposition remove the Georgian Dream government from power.

The third president, who currently holds Ukrainian citizenship, is now serving his six-year-term for abuse of power in Rustavi prison.
