The ruling Georgian Dream (GD) officials and MPs are sure that the country’s ex-president Mikheil Saakashvili has released a fake video from Batumi yesterday and that he lies when he says he is in Georgia ahead of tomorrow’s elections, while the United National Movement (UNM) opposition party members are ‘happy with Saakashvili’s return.’

The Georgian Interior Ministry also claims that Saakashvili has not crossed into the country.

Saakashvili released a live video as he said from Georgia’s coastal city of Batumi yesterday and  stated that he is already in Georgia ahead of the elections.

In the video he said that he has put his life at risk and urged voters to vote for the UNM in the upcoming race.

Saakashvili also called on voters to take to the street on October 3 to ‘put an end to the Georgian Dream.’

Saakashvili has been charged and convicted for several crimes in Georgia.

The Georgian government has stated that he would be arrested if he returns after ‘eight years on the run’.
