Head of the ruling Georgian Dream party Irakli Kobakhidze has stated that government representatives will not be present on Rustaveli Avenue in central Tbilisi later today during the video address of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
Zelensky is scheduled to make a video address for five cities in the evening, including for Tbilisi, Formula TV said today.
Kobakhidze stated that the government representatives will not attend the event following the ‘illogical step’ by Kyiv over recalling its ambassador for consultations.
He hinted that the move could be connected with Ukrainian officials of Georgian origin who have links with the United National Movement opposition party.
Kobakhidze reiterated that ‘provocative forces’ are trying to ‘drag Georgia in the war.’
“Despite the move we continue to ensure all support for Ukraine, both in the international arena and in terms of humanitarian aid,” Kobakhidze said.
Zelensky’s video address is scheduled to take place at 20:00.
