Head of the ruling Georgian Dream party Irakli Kobakhidze has stated that only several foreign states have adopted a resolution in support of Ukraine amid fears of an attack by Russia, and that Georgia was among them.
He said that the resolution, which has been recently approved by the state legislature “is very clear, and expresses very clear support for Ukraine and its people,” Kobakhidze said earlier today.
Kobakhidze’s statement comes on the heels of the opposition’s criticism of the resolution as the text made no mention of Russia.
Kobakhidze stated that the ruling party will not accept the criticism from the party members ‘whose wrong policy allowed Russia to occupy 20 percent of the country’s territory’ back in 2008.
“Thanks God the party (the United National Movement) no longer directs the country’s foreign course,” he said, noting that only the Georgian Dream authorities managed to prevent a war in Georgia.
