Georgian Interior Minister meets Council of Europe Human Rights Commissioner

Georgian Interior Minister Geka Geladze on Tuesday met the Council of Europe Commissioner for Human Rights, Michael O'Flaherty, who is on an official visit to the country.

The Ministry’s press office said Geladze provided the Commissioner with information about the Ministry’s activities, key priorities and ongoing as well as implemented reforms.

The sides also discussed the current human rights situation in Georgia, focusing on measures aimed at strengthening protection mechanisms.

At the end of the meeting, the parties reviewed prospects for future cooperation between the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Council of Europe.
