Tskaltubo mayoral candidate from the ruling Georgian Dream party, Genadi Balanchivadze, who is seeking a second term in the 2025 elections, has highlighted major infrastructure achievements and ambitious plans for the coming years.

Balanchivadze said that over the past four years, special attention had been paid to both road and water infrastructure. At present, 90% of road infrastructure in both urban and rural areas is complete. Work on the town’s water supply and sewage systems has been underway for three years and is set to be completed in 2026. He described the project as “historic,” noting that it will not only contribute to the development of the city but also to the rehabilitation of sanatoriums, which rely on the infrastructure now being built.

Expressing confidence in the support of Tskaltubo residents, Balanchivadze said he would continue to work for the municipality in the next four years if re-elected. He also underlined social projects, noting that since becoming mayor, ten houses have been built and handed over to homeless, socially vulnerable families, with seven more under construction to be completed and distributed in October.

“As a candidate, I am confident in the right decision of my Tskaltubo people and Georgian Dream supporters. Together, we will achieve a great deal in the future,” Balanchivadze said. “I take pride in having supported families who had no home and were living under the open sky. This project was born out of necessity, and we will soon hand over another seven homes to those in need.”

Looking ahead, Balanchivadze said his vision for Tskaltubo development includes a strong focus on sports tourism. Plans for the next term include the construction of sports grounds and recreational areas, the full renovation of the central football stadium in 2026, and the building of a new rugby stadium.

“Every year, the number of visitors to Tskaltubo increases by 20%. This direction requires special attention, and we are working on it with the support of the central government. I am sure that in the next four years, Tskaltubo will take a special place not only in Europe but worldwide,” Balanchivadze said.
