Head of Law and Justice party Tako Charkviani, who was earlier critical to Georgia’s third President Mikheil Saakashvili, has created a general public movement ‘to ensure a safe return’ of Saakashvili from Ukraine to Georgia.

Saakashvili, who currently chairs Ukraine’s Reforms Council, has pledged he will return to Georgia for the October 2 municipal elections and that Georgian people will not allow his arrest.

Charkviani says that the government ‘must suspend Saakashvili’s prosecution and restore his Georgian citizenship.’

Saakashvili left Georgia back in 2013.

He has been charged with several crimes related to abuse of authority.

The Georgian Dream leadership says that he will be arrested if enters the country.
