Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili has stated that the country will not join international sanctions against Russia for invading Ukraine as ‘this will affect our country and people.’

He has also refused to attend an irregular parliamentary session called by the opposition and approved by the president over Ukraine today.

“The opposition has goals to stage a provocation and repeat the same that happened back in 2008. They were unable to prevent a war then,” Garibashvili said earlier today.

He also stated that there is no need to hold the meeting of the national security council.

The opposition has slammed the PM for the statements, saying that it is the ‘capitulation before Russia.’

The Ukrainian government says that Russian troops are already in Kyiv.

The Ukrainian authorities are criticizing the international community for not backing them properly against Russia, warning the West that Russia will not stop.
