Georgia’s First Vice-Speaker of Parliament, Gia Volski, on Thursday accused the Baltic states of attempting to frame Georgia as the main target of potential Russian aggression, claiming their plans have largely failed. His remarks came in response to the visit of Georgia’s fifth President, Salome Zourabichvili, to the Baltic nations.

Speaking on the matter, Volski asserted that the Baltic states continue to be significant trading partners of Russia while simultaneously portraying Georgia as vulnerable to Russian threats. He argued that world politics were shifting, yet the Baltic states “remained committed” to shaping the South Caucasus, and Georgia in particular, as the focal point of future Russian military actions.

“Their goal remains unchanged: to somehow make the South Caucasus and Georgia the main direction of aggression, which may sooner or later be carried out by Russia, not against the Baltic states, but in the direction of Georgia,” Volski claimed.

According to Volski, the supposed plan to highlight Georgia as a primary target of Moscow’s actions had collapsed. “In practice, the pages of this scenario have been torn apart, but they are still acting according to their plan,” he added.
