"Georgia will gradually receive Astrazeneca vaccines against coronavirus from Saturday," Georgian Health Minister Ekaterine Tikaradze said at a special briefing today.

According to Tikaradze, the country will receive 43,200 doses of Astrazeneca vaccine.

"First of all, I would like to thank the World Health Organization, as well as the Kovacs platform, one of our main partners today, with whom the Ministry of Health of Georgia has many years of experience and cooperation, in particular, UNICEF, which is intensively involved in providing vaccines to Georgia. . It is with their help that we have very important information that the vaccine will arrive in Georgia at an accelerated pace, the date has been postponed for a week. We already have confirmed information that from Saturday, March 13, Georgian vaccines will be delivered in stages. Once again, I would like to express my gratitude to them, as well as to all the staff of the Ministry of Health who are involved in the delivery of the vaccine on a 24-hour basis. "At this stage, UNICEF has negotiated for an accelerated supply of Astrazeneca vaccine. The prescribed dose of 43,200 will be delivered, which will be distributed in accordance with the existing protocol," said Ekaterine Tikaradze.

At the same time, the Minister noted that negotiations are underway to reach an agreement on the delivery of the Pfizer vaccine as soon as possible.
