Georgia has won two more cases related to the Russia-Georgia 2008 war in the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR).
The court ruled two Russian cases, Shavlokhova and others vs Georgia and Bekoyeva and others vs Georgia, inadmissible.
Georgian Minister of Justice Rati Bregadze stated earlier today that the cases were filed by the individuals living in Georgia’s currently Russian-occupied Tskhinvali region, and they claimed that Georgia had breached their human rights during the conflict.
Georgia also won the August war case in ECHR earlier this year.
The court’s judgement said that Russia violated several articles of the European Convention on Human rights during the conflict and carried out ethnic cleansing of Georgians.
The verdict said that Russia must have paid Georgia €10,000,000 for non-pecuniary damage suffered by a group of at least 1,500 Georgian nationals, which Russia has not paid so far.
