Georgian citizen illegally arrested by occupation forces released

Georgian citizen Levan Machabeli, who was illegally arrested by Russian-controlled occupation forces near the de facto tskhinvali region, was released on Wednesday, the Georgian State Security Service said. 

“At the request of his immediate release by the central government of Georgia, both the hotline mechanism and other tools at the disposal of the central government were actively used.

The issue of Machabeli’s release from illegal detention was regularly discussed in the Incident Prevention and Response Mechanism (IPRM) format, and information was continuously provided to the co-chairs of the Geneva International Discussions and international partners, said the agency.
