Georgian newly elected Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili has met with the UK Prime Minister’s International Affairs Adviser and Deputy National Security Adviser, David Quarry, in London, where he has raised the issue of Ukraine and stated that the topic also poses threats to Georgian security.

“We have briefed Mr. Quarry on the risks the tension poses both to Ukraine and Georgia,” Papuashvili said.

He stated that Quarry reaffirmed the UK’s, as a NATO member state’s support for Georgia, and that Great Britain is aware of the security threats the crisis poses for the whole region.

Papuashvili also held a meeting with the Speaker of the UK House of Commons, Sir Lindsay Hoyle, where he underlined the ‘strong friendship’ between the countries, strategic partnership and active bilateral dialogue.

The officials discussed the cooperation between Georgia and the UK in various fields, including the Black Sea security.
