Georgian Parliament Vice Speaker Gia Volski says Georgia is the number one target for Russia after Ukraine, and that the current state authorities are trying to prevent negative consequences for the country.

Volski’s comment comes on the heels of a recent praise of Russian official Grigory Karasin  towards the Georgian government for not imposing sanctions on Russia for its invasion of Ukraine.

Volski says that Moscow makes such statements to trigger questions and controversies in Georgia.

“No matter what political taste one has. We, the Georgian public, should be well aware that the country’s security is threatened by Russia and we are second after Ukraine under danger,” Volski said.

He stated that the government refrains from calling a National Security Council meeting with the involvement of the opposition ‘as this will further increase security threats,’ noting that the opposition is engaged with destructive actions and ‘dragging the country to danger.’
