The Ministry of Justice of Georgia has released a statement regarding the 64th round of the Geneva International Discussions, emphasizing ongoing human rights violations under the conditions of prolonged Russian occupation.
According to the statement, the humanitarian and human rights working group was led by Deputy Minister of Justice Beka Dzamashvili. The Georgian delegation also included representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Office of the State Minister for Reconciliation and Civic Equality, the Government of the Autonomous Republic of Abkhazia, and the temporary administration of the former South Ossetian Autonomous Region.
During the negotiations, the delegation focused on the systematic violations of human rights in the occupied regions. The ministry reiterated that rulings from the European Court of Human Rights have already established the Russian Federation’s responsibility for widespread violations of fundamental rights and its unconditional obligation to ensure the return of displaced persons to their homes. These legal victories, the ministry said, are actively used to strengthen Georgia’s position in the Geneva format.
The Geneva Discussions are co-facilitated by representatives of the European Union, the United Nations, and the OSCE.
The next round of talks is scheduled for November 11–12, 2025.
The Justice Ministry stated it will continue, in coordination with other state agencies, to protect Georgia’s interests in international courts and through all relevant international mechanisms.
