Ambassador Khatia Tsilosani, Permanent Representative of Georgia, on Wednesday presented her credentials to the Secretary General of the Council of Europe, Alain Berset.
Following the formal ceremony, the two held a meeting during which Tsilosani expressed gratitude for the Council of Europe’s steadfast support for Georgia’s territorial integrity and sovereignty. She noted this support was clearly reflected in the Secretary General’s consolidated reports and in the decisions of the Committee of Ministers concerning the conflict in Georgia.
“As a genuine member of the European family, Georgia stands fully prepared to continue an active and constructive dialogue with the Council of Europe and to contribute to the strengthening of human rights, democracy, and the rule of law, while safeguarding the country’s best interests”, Tsilosani said.
The Secretary General reaffirmed both the Council of Europe’s and his personal commitment to further deepening and strengthening the successful cooperation with Georgia. The parties also discussed domestic developments in Georgia and outlined future plans for cooperation.
