The agency said the transition will be formally initiated following the submission of a legislative proposal to the Bureau of the Parliament of Georgia.

The Special Investigation Service of Georgia is set to be abolished, with its responsibilities and operations transferred to the jurisdiction of the Prosecutor General's Office, the agency confirmed to domestic media on Monday. 

The agency said the transition will be formally initiated following the submission of a legislative proposal to the Bureau of the Parliament of Georgia.

"We confirm that the Special Investigation Service will join the Prosecutor General's Office of Georgia. Additional details will be made public after a legislative initiative is submitted to the Bureau of the Parliament of Georgia, which will explain in detail the need for and forms of the changes," the Special Investigation Service informed.
