Former President of the National Bank of Georgia, Giorgi Kadagidze, has urged the public to recognize the “critical juncture at which the country finds itself”. In his comments on Monday, he said Georgia does not have the luxury of losing the current political battle.

“We must believe in our strength, that this state stands at a crossroads where we do not have the luxury of losing the battle,” Kadagidze emphasized, calling for unity and resilience among the people.

Kadagidze also expressed strong criticism of the government, stating that it “relies on a small group of individuals to maintain power”.

“This regime stands on 2-3 thousand brutal people. They present propaganda as if they are many and stand on strong power structures, as in the case of Russia, Belarus, and Iran. This is not so in Georgia. They are several thousand, and we are the absolute majority who do not like this and do not want to come to terms with this catastrophic situation, while we have such great historical opportunities,” he asserted.

The former National Bank chief acknowledged the fear many citizens experience when expressing dissent, noting that some are even hesitant to react to critical posts. Nevertheless, he maintained that the majority of Georgians oppose the current trajectory of the government and that their collective power should not be underestimated.
