Georgian Deputy Interior Minister visits Azerbaijan to discuss law enforcement cooperation

Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of Georgia Giorgi Sakhokia has paid a working visit to Azerbaijan together with a delegation, the ministry’s press service announced on Wednesday.
As part of the visit, Sakhokia held a meeting with Azerbaijan’s Minister of Internal Affairs Vilayat Eyvazov. The sides discussed existing cooperation between the two countries in the law enforcement field and prospects for further strengthening their partnership.
Special attention was paid to the significance of the cooperation agreement signed on November 21 this year between the Ministries of Internal Affairs of Georgia and Azerbaijan, which was endorsed by the interior ministers of both countries.
The meeting also addressed cooperation between Georgian and Azerbaijani law enforcement agencies, the strengthening of the police attaché institution, and priority areas of collaboration between the two countries’ police educational institutions. The sides highlighted the importance of sharing best practices and discussed organizing joint trainings and courses between police academies.
At the conclusion of the meeting, Sakhokia thanked Eyvazov for the hospitality and productive cooperation.
During the working visit, the Georgian deputy interior minister and the delegation also attended a ceremonial event marking the 20th anniversary of the establishment of Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Emergency Situations, the press service said.
