First Vice Speaker of the Georgian Parliament, Giorgi Volski, has dismissed as “naive and ridiculous” recent claims by Member of the European Parliament (MEP) Nacho Sánchez Amor. Amor alleged that Georgian ruling party sanctioned individuals are contacting MEPs to inquire how they can be removed from the sanctions list.
Volski said it is implausible that any sanctioned individual would be so naive as to directly call Sánchez Amor or other MEPs for help with their sanctions.
“This statement is naive. I know Sánchez personally; he himself is a rather naive and superficial individual. I wouldn’t call him a serious figure who influences politics. He’s more of a figure who caters to the current demands of the moment, a social democrat who only has an opinion when it comes to dividing positions between the People’s Party and the Socialists,” Volski remarked.
He concluded that such a scenario is “absurd” and “implausible,” adding that no sanctioned person would ever approach Sánchez Amor or other MEPs for assistance.
