Kutaisi International University (KIU), in Georgia’s west, is hosting one of Europe’s leading academic forums on artificial intelligence, marking the first time the event has been held in Georgia.
The four-day conference, Logics in Artificial Intelligence (JELIA 2025), runs from 1 to 4 September and brings together leading scientists and researchers working on logical models in AI. The gathering was opened by Georgia’s Minister of Education Givi Mikanadze, who described the event as “a prestigious platform for the exchange of knowledge and experience”.
“It is a great honour for Kutaisi International University to host such a conference, which underscores both the scale and the role of the university on the international stage,” Mikanadze said. He added that the presence of world-class scholars highlighted Georgia’s growing recognition in higher education and research.
The acting rector of KIU, Professor Paata Turava, also addressed participants, alongside local officials and university students.
47 peer-reviewed research papers were selected from a highly competitive international pool to be presented at JELIA 2025, covering the latest advances in logic-based artificial intelligence., the organizers claimed. Panel discussions and expert exchanges are also planned.
Founded in France in 1988, the JELIA conference takes place every two years in different European countries. Previous hosts include Germany, the UK, Italy, Portugal and Spain. Its goal is to strengthen collaboration across disciplines and between theoretical and applied research in AI.
