Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán on Wednesday called for an agreement with Russian President Vladimir Putin on the “new security architecture” of Ukraine, saying the deal must exclude Kyiv’s accession to NATO or any of its claims on the Crimean Peninsula.

“We need to make an agreement with Russia on a new security architecture to ensure the security and sovereignty of Ukraine without its joining NATO. The return of Crimea is completely unrealistic for Ukraine. “Ukraine is close to losing the war because the Russian army has a numerical advantage,” Orbán said in an interview with former Fox News anchor Tucker Carlson.

He claimed the best chance for peace in Ukraine would be Donald Trump’s return to power as the US President and the termination of military support to Ukraine.
