Hungary’s PM Orbáp presents 12 demands to Brussels, rejects Ukraine’s EU accession

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán has outlined 12 demands to Brussels, which he claims reflect the will of the Hungarian people. Among the demands, one of the most striking is the rejection of Ukraine’s EU membership.

Orbán shared the list on his official X account, calling for peace, freedom, and unity in Europe.
1. A Europe of nations.
2. Equality before the law for all Member States.
3. Restoration of competences unlawfully taken from nations.
4. National sovereignty and a strong veto for national governments.
5. Expulsion of Soros agents from the European Commission and the removal of corrupt lobbyists from the European Parliament.
6. Elimination of the EU’s debt to secure future generations.
7. Protection of borders by national guards, no forced migration policies, and deportation of illegal migrants.
8. A ban on foreign funds influencing Member States’ politics.
9. A prohibition on “unnatural re-education” of children.
10. Protection of Europe’s Christian heritage.
11. Peace in Europe.
12. A European Union without Ukraine.

Orbán concluded his statement with “Equality, freedom, brotherhood!”, echoing nationalist and sovereignty-driven rhetoric that has defined his leadership.

The list comes as tensions between Budapest and Brussels continue to escalate, particularly regarding Ukraine’s EU integration, migration policies, and rule-of-law disputes.
