The Azerbaijani president said relations between the two countries were characterised by active political dialogue

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev has congratulated Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze and the Georgian people on the occasion of Georgia’s Independence Day.

In his congratulatory message, Aliyev highlighted the high level of strategic partnership between Azerbaijan and Georgia, describing bilateral relations as being based on longstanding traditions of friendship, brotherhood and good neighbourly ties between the two nations.

The Azerbaijani president said relations between the two countries were characterised by active political dialogue, regular high-level visits and mutually beneficial cooperation that continued to expand with new areas of engagement.

Aliyev also recalled his state visit to Georgia in April and expressed confidence that decisions reached during discussions with Georgian officials would contribute to the further deepening of strategic partnership and practical cooperation.

He said favourable conditions had been created for expanding bilateral relations and increasing the economic potential of the region through joint efforts and cooperation in areas of mutual interest.

Aliyev wished Kobakhidze success in his work and extended wishes of lasting peace and prosperity to the Georgian people.
