Georgia marked Defence Forces Day on 30 April, with a ceremonial event held at the 4th Infantry Brigade base in Vaziani, where new recruits took the military oath.
Speaking at the event, Vice Prime Minister and Defence Minister Irakli Chikovani said the occasion held special significance for the 800 recruits who pledged their service to the country.
“Today’s ceremonial mood is particularly meaningful for the 800 recruits who have taken the military oath before the nation and the state,” he said.
Chikovani also highlighted the future of the Defence Forces, extending congratulations to young cadets, officer trainees and conscripts, whom he described as strengthening the Georgian military.
“I congratulate the hope of our future - young cadets, officer trainees and conscripts - everyone who contributes to strengthening Georgia’s Defence Forces,” he added.
The minister expressed gratitude to the families of service members, noting their role in supporting soldiers through the demands of military life.
“Family is the strong and reliable support that sustains our servicemembers in this difficult and honourable profession. A caring and resilient family is the greatest source of strength, faith and endurance for a soldier,” Chikovani said.
