Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on Monday said the Government was waiting for the position of the United States regarding the renewal of the countries’ strategic partnership.

Speaking at a briefing, Kobakhidze said recent developments give the Government reason to remain optimistic that the partnership could be reset.

“Recent processes maintain our optimism that it will indeed be possible to reset the strategic partnership. The rest depends on the American side and we are patiently waiting for their position,” Kobakhidze said.

He added the Government had proposed renewing the strategic partnership with the United States from a “clean slate” and with a “concrete roadmap”.

“This statement was made publicly and the processes that have taken place recently keep us optimistic that the strategic partnership can truly be reset,” Kobakhidze said.
